Nope! Maybe we will mention why we don’t use them in a later video. It’s a topic we’d like to cover. The main reason it makes drifting accurately harder and wastes valuable time you could be fishing and re drifting. Letting line out is highly effective.

Good question, basically running 5kW of transducers drains your batteries between starts. So I just leave it running.

Yes, only a short one (15-30cm). Then a long mono leader for shock absorption and avoid tail whip (2-4m). Hopefully this answers your question mate 👍

No, thankfully! It was earlier this year. I didn’t take my go pro, but we won largest dhu fish category.

@@WAFISHING well done 🤘🍻. In the 40's or deeper. I mainly fish in the 40's but it's not that much further to hit the deeper ground hey. Last time a couple weeks ago we got 5 of those big flathead 🤘

@ryantweddle3167 try around there for KGs if flattys around. Mostly fish 40s, this time of year not a bad idea out to 60s. You’ll get dhus out to 100m, but numbers thin out.

@@WAFISHING yeah we get some big KG's too around there. Normally a bye catch on a big triple hook bottom meat style rig. Kind of hard to target them unless you fish 2 rods, one bottom meat and one say padanoster with say a 3/0. Im toying with the idea of the bottom meat head as the sinker with a 3/0 or 4/0 hanging off at the bottom then a 3 way swivel further up with a 7/0 or 8/0. Then can target both big demersals and the big kg/flatties.

Definitely not easy, 20 years dhufish experience behind these videos. Always use a heavy leader. 80-100ib. Rub through is something I’ve seen with raspy teeth of the dhufish. Earlier video I’ve posted about 10 years ago will show this . (Big Dhufish - offshore Rockingham) Also as I fish light, it gives me half a chance if they find a hole. Hope this helps! @@WAFISHING how do you like the suzuki? I am about to buy a motor for my new boat and I am tossing up between 300hp yamaha or the 325hp duoprop suzuki

@joshsmith9058 DYOR, but IMO I liked the Suzukis over a Yammy for a few reasons. 1. Offset drive shaft - more weight over transom 2. Chain timing - less maintenance and more reliable 3. Drive ratio - can swing a bigger prop for better grip and acceleration out of hole (for them scary moments like coral bay southern passage) Yammys have their reputation, they will run a higher WOT then Suzi due to smaller prop sizes. Again, just my opinion. My mates all run Yammys, and I think my engine is quieter.

Good question! I locally catch skin diving on holes, pipes etc. Also often I deep freeze a heap from ventures up north where we bag a few dozen, walking reefs looking for holes. 👀 Fresh is best! 🐙 If you can’t get them yourself, there’s a few suppliers locally I think.

And also l don’t know how l noticed this but is this vid a older one as l love watching your videos and in the last vid your cushiony chairs at the back where fixed and now they back to broke again

@@sladestoove763 yes, I had them fixed recently. Sorry about the order of videos, just some taking longer to edit than others. They were filmed around same time. This video was just before they were fixed.

@ryantweddle3167 old but stable hulls those! 40s is good place to start. You’re doing all the right things, just keep searching. This time of year, 40-60m as they tend to be a bit deeper imo.

Rockingham is underrated for fishing options. Tassie isn’t too bad! Great options from river to deep dropping.

IMO dhufish particularly will sit on the bottom and unable be picked up by your sounder if they are not active. If the ground looks like nice coral, it’s worth a drop. You’ll find fish will start to appear on your sounder following your bait. If nothing hits, I move on. I think this video is a prime example of this, looks Barron, but there’s a school of dhus down there at that hook up point.
